AI-AC (AI Accessibility Checker) · Effective 25 July 2026
AI-AC is a browser extension that checks websites for accessibility barriers and reports a score for each disability profile. This policy explains what data the extension handles, how it is used, and the choices you have.
Settings stored on your device. The extension saves your theme, selected disability profiles, and (only if you add one) your AI provider choice, model, and API key, using the browser's local extension storage. This stays on your device. Your API key is never sent to the developer and is used only to authenticate requests you initiate to the provider you configured.
Page content during a scan. When you run a scan, the extension reads the structure of the page you are viewing to perform the checks. For the rules scan this happens locally and is not transmitted anywhere.
If, and only if, you enable AI vision by adding your own API key, then when you run a scan a screenshot (PNG) of the page plus a short instruction prompt is sent over encrypted HTTPS to the AI provider you selected (for example Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google), authenticated with your key. That provider processes the request and returns the findings, and its own privacy policy governs how it handles the data. AI-AC does not proxy, copy, log, or retain this data, and the developer never receives it. You can disable the feature at any time in Settings by selecting "None, rules only", which removes your key.
The developer does not sell, rent, or share your data. The only transfer that ever occurs is the one you initiate: sending a screenshot to the AI provider you chose, when AI vision is enabled.
Settings and your API key remain on your device until you change them or uninstall the extension. Uninstalling removes all locally stored data, including your key. The developer retains nothing, because the developer receives nothing.
AI-AC is a developer and accessibility tool, is not directed to children, and does not knowingly collect information from children.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date.
